Gallery5 is partnering with the Richmond Moon Market for First Friday, Richmond’s premier event celebrating the arts! We’re closing the street and lining the block with local artists and vendors for a spectacular outdoor, night market and block party in historic Jackson Ward and featuring , local artists and vendors, food trucks, performers, and more. We love original, unique and unexpected creators. We want to build inclusive community, support local makers, and create space for learning and solidarity. No jerks allowed.

ANNOUNCING: The “Hello My Name Is…” international sticker exhibition happening at Gallery 5 on September 5th! Part of any community is knowing & being known & what better way to do that than a massive introduction? Sticker making is an emergent Art form that has swept over the world! Stickers can be found on the back of stop signs, dive bar bathrooms, museum panels, & Romanian Sticker buses. They have become a staple of the modern day city-scape. They declare proudly the Artist was there & bring color to every mundane surface that seems all too abundant in our cities today. The game is repetition, distinctness, collectibility, & longevity. Together we say “Hello My Name Is…” in the loudest way we can!
We are not only displaying custom artwork on our vinyl sticker template to be hung / framed in the G5 gallery, but we are also announcing The Sticker Bus! This will be a nation 1st in America! We are drawing on the Romanian example of emblazoning a city run bus with thousands of stickers as a moving Public Arts Sculpture! We’re going to need around 18,000 stickers to cover this GRTC sucker & we need your stickers! We are also using this opportunity to push for the continued “Free Fare” program that helps so many of our community get to where they need to be! The GRTC is running low on funding & is at risk of losing this invaluable program. Together we can not only bring attention to this but create a 1st for the nation!
